Overview
In this project, I developed and managed a custom web-based campaign system to support a legislative candidate’s political operations. Starting as a developer, I later took on the role of Data Analyst & IT Manager, handling data-driven decision support and training over 4,420 grassroots volunteers. The system, built using CodeIgniter 3, PHP, MySQL, and Bootstrap, became a core tool for field coordination and strategic planning—ultimately contributing to the candidate’s successful election. My contributions led to my recruitment as Expert Staff (Tenaga Ahli) for a Member of Parliament (DPR RI).
Project Background
What began as a task to fulfill the digital needs of the Salam Galih campaign app evolved into a larger responsibility. Initially focused solely on developing the application, I was later invited to join the political campaign team as a Data Analyst, where I was challenged to work with the very data structure I had built.

Data Analyst & IT Manager → Promoted to Expert Staff (Tenaga Ahli) for a Member of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI).
Responsibilities & Contributions
- Developed a customized web-based campaign system using CodeIgniter 3, PHP, MySQL, and Bootstrap
- Managed data structuring, reporting, and analysis to support political strategy
- Generated daily and weekly insights for the campaign leadership to guide decisions
- Led technical onboarding and digital literacy training for 4,420 field volunteers and grassroots coordinators
- Adapted the user experience to accommodate a wide age range of users, especially millennials and baby boomers
- Facilitated seamless communication between technical development and operational deployment on the ground
Challenges & Solutions
One of the biggest challenges was bridging the digital divide within a diverse team of users. I had to ensure the application was not only functional but also accessible and intuitive for field users with varying tech experience. This led to the creation of simplified interfaces and direct support materials, alongside tailored training sessions to ensure maximum adoption.
Results & Impact
- Successfully deployed the app and trained over 4,000+ volunteers across multiple regions
- Significantly improved real-time data flow and team coordination during the campaign
- Enabled timely and accurate decision-making based on field reports and data insights
- Recognized by the leadership team and subsequently appointed as Tenaga Ahli (Expert Staff) to a sitting Member of Parliament (DPR RI)
Reflection
This role expanded my skill set from technical development into strategic data communication and field coordination. I learned how to balance system reliability with human-centered design, communicate across generations, and turn complex data into political strategy. It was a transformative experience that combined tech, people, and impact into one meaningful journey.
